What the BLM is proposing

The Hancock water pipeline is proposed to be approximately 4.9 miles of 2 inch pipe approximately 24 inches deep in the ground. Approximately 4.75 miles of pipe would follow existing roads and approximately 0.15 miles would be new disturbance on BLM lands. The new disturbance would be at locations where the pipeline ties into troughs roughly 50-200 feet off of an existing roads. The purpose of the pipeline and additional water troughs are to improve livestock distribution across the allotment to improve vegetative diversity and provide additional watering locations. Approximately 1.5 gallons per minute are expected to be utilized from the Hancock spring with any overflows being directed to Airport Spring to aid in recharge.
