What the BLM is proposing

Applicant: Kay Mine USA Corp.

The purpose of the project is to collect mineral resource data through drilling operations. The project consists of copper mineral exploration activities that include access along existing roads to sites throughout the project area to construct 63 drill pads and associated access roads. The project will utilize previously constructed pads and associated access roads, some of which have evidence to current public use that is not associated with the project such as hiking, hunting, recreational target shooting, off-roading activities etc. Total ground disturbance on BLM managed lands is estimated to be 29 acres, which include 12.3 acres for 77 drill pads, 14.2 acres of established access roads, 1.7 acres of road widening on existing access roads with minor maintenance and improvements to allow passage of equipment. Approximately 8,368 linear feet (2.7 acres) of roads are existing access roads with minor maintenance. These roads are currently 14 ft wide. Some of these roads are used for public access and may require improvements for safe vehicle passage so any additional widening would not be reclaimed and would continue to be open for public use. Approximately 40,140 linear feet (12.9 acres) of new access roads up to 14 ft wide are proposed. These access roads would be reclaimed post exploration activities.
