What the BLM is proposing

Oil & Gas

This Environmental Assessment documents the Bureau of Land Management Central California District’s analysis of the potential environmental impacts of leasing 43 parcels nominated through Expressions of Interest, or internally selected by BLM, for a proposed December 2026 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale. The Federal mineral estate proposed for leasing is within the jurisdiction of the Bakersfield Field Office with the exception of one parcel located under the jurisdiction of the Central Coast Field Office. The proposed lease parcels are located in Kern, Kings, Fresno, and San Luis Obispo counties, California, and include a mixture of split estate (private surface/Federal mineral estate) and public lands. National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA): Preliminary determination of no historic properties affected.
